On the perseverance of care

This past month, we opened a job position to expand our reach in Toronto. As expected, we advertised it on an online platform and received a flood of applications. If you are part of the job market, you know how it is: it is easy to find job posts and apply. However, it is hard to get a job.
Although our brand is not as famous as we expect it to be one day, our noble cause may be a good incentive to applicants. Therefore, we are thankful for the high number of applications we got. At one point, we had to pause the submission process to analyze all the ones we received.
The current job market is so, so challenging. We know how stressful an application process can be. Our team is small, and executing a perfect selection process is still hard. But we went through every resume, without AI support. It’s such an inspiring experience to read part of your stories through your resumes. We are all builders of our destinies, and all work lives are made of effort and perseverance. We don’t want to sound dramatic, but every application rejection comes with a bitter feeling of “maybe this person could have helped us grow.” Nevertheless, we can hire only one.
Some applicants were disqualified for geographical reasons, and others because their career paths were not aligned with our current needs. Evaluating a piece of digital paper is tough. In the future, we shall find better ways to analyze the potential of new co-workers.
We started Nrolled to act based on care. And sometimes, it does not come naturally. Competition, financial constraints/incentives, and business models tend to limit the scope of care. However, we insist on believing this is the best way, and it will differentiate us in the face of automation, AI, and profit above all.
To all applicants, thank you for caring about us. We hope someday we can hire or help every one of you find a nice job. Your perseverance is an inspiration for ours.
